A Suspenseful Breathtaking Review of Ericka Scott’s Phone Calls from the Dead

Welcome back!
It’s a new take on the idea of calls from the grave in Ericka Scott’s sensual suspense novella Phone Calls from the Dead. Rosalie Hopkins is just trying to get on with her life after being stranded at the altar by her wealthy athlete fiancé. However, her painful and humiliating past is not history when she receives a crank call from the cell phone of her missing fiancé. Unsure if he is dead or voluntarily missing, Rosalie decides she must turn up the heat on the investigation if she’s ever going to attain peace. The pain-struck redhead hires a beautiful dark investigator, who was secretly hired by her fiancé’s agent in the months leading up to his disappearance, to resume the investigation after a chance meeting at a bar.
As the clues mount, Rosalie begins to have feelings for the tender PI and begins to suspect her new boss at the airport where she’s been recently hired as a ticketing agent. When Rosalie’s psychically-tuned sister receives a mysterious postcard, an occurrence that only happens when someone has died, and her news-reporting husband’s doubts about his friend’s disappearance starts to grow, it may be too late when they all discover the danger they are in.
Phone Calls from the Dead accomplishes a lot in only 80 pages. It is a very satisfying read with desire and suspense that leads you to care about the characters and their outcome. I liked Rosalie and her sister from the start and enjoyed witnessing Rosalie’s fight to become whole again.
Phone Calls from the Dead earns 4/5 stars.
