The Power of 13

Welcome back!
Considering my interests and the angles I choose to explore on this blog, maybe I am a bit of a social rebel. With that in mind, I love Friday the 13th. We’re not talking the movie and its endless sequels (Although I love some of them too), I mean the actual Friday the 13th. Ever since I was a child, I have found my “luckiest” days seem to fall on Friday the 13th. Even if nothing especially good happens, I find myself feeling quite pleasant.
It may have nothing to do with the day at all, but since I’ve never had a bad Friday, the 13th (knock on wood) I look forward to them. I was so disappointed when I missed the opportunity to blog about last month’s Friday, the 13th. Then I found out that there are three of them this year…my first thought…this is going to be a good year!!!
I am into New Age philosophy and have found that odd numbered years tend to be more pivotal for me than even numbered years. It’s not to say that those years don’t have their share of good and bad occurrences, but I seem to remember most odd as having the great impact in my life.
In honor of Friday the 13 there are a lot of interesting facts.
Such as:
- Many hospitals and tall building skip the 13th floor.
- Many hotels don’t have a room 13.
- There’s even a phobia for the unusual fear of the number 13 –paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.
Most numbered items usually come in a dozen or half dozen…or even in fours and yet we feel perfectly comfortable with lucky number 7
Obviously, numbers come into play often in our lives and in our minds…
What are your Friday, the 13th stories?
