slr_logo_300px1It’s February and it’s time for the Black History and Valentine’s Book Giveaway at Sable Lit Reviews!

Sable Lit Reviews in collaboration with Hachette Book Group USA is hosting a book giveaway contest to honor the month of love and black history.

The Chocolate & Hearts contests will focus on the spirit of love and black history. Much like love, chocolate and the black community, we come in various hues and points of view. Thanks to continued progress, African Americans are beginning to recognized for the great contributions we’ve made to this society.

Both of these giveaways look great. I’d like to be entered for the “Celebrating African-American History Giveaway”.

My husband always gets me flowers for Valentine’s Day. The best part is that every year he picks out something different. They are always beautiful.

          Thanks for hosting this giveaway.

I have only received one Valentine. One year I got a single red rose from the guy I was seeing.

I would love to win the “With Love” package.

              Hi
The best Valentine I’ve given a boyfriend was a little over the top but the surprise factor was there. I told him I was planning a dinner and that he was to come to my place. I arranged a limo pickup and dinner at his favorite steak house, then the newest action flick at the theatre closet to his place. He was pleased he didn’t have to plan anything and told me he really felt it was a evening planned for him. I won lots of brownie points.
              Cheers
              PS I love the giveaway

The weirdest Valentine’s Day gift I ever received was a teddy bear. Normally that would be fine, but this one had creepy red eyes and looked demonically possessed. I stuffed it in a closet as soon as I could!

The strangest gift I ever got on Valentines day was a pair of shoes. A guy I was dating had a huge fashion obsession and didn’t like my favorite shoes so he thought he’d replace them. They were so ugly! I never wore them.
I’d like the Celebrating African-American History set of books.

Wonderful with love giveaway. Thanks. Valentine’s gifts were few and far between for me, but one year this friend who had been ignoring me for a long time decided to surprise me with a friendship of a journal. She knew I loved reading, writing my thoughts down and it was a gift that I cherished.

The funniest Valentines Day gift I ever recieved happened 16 Years ago. After having 4 sons, I found myself in labor for the fifth time . The sonogram pictures of our baby were inconclusive and though hopeful, I really wanted a healthy baby above all. So with the final push my husband and I heard the doctor declare “It’s a GIRL” and we both burst out crying which in turn set off the nurses and even the doctor wiped away a few tears. The funny thing is that I didn’t even realize it was Valentines Day until hours later. She’s the best gift I ever recieved!

Should you consider me a winner, I believe I could benefit from the With Love set of books, as I am quite lacking in love at the moment.

The strangest Valentines’ Day gift I have ever had was a date. I met a very handsome business man at a grocery store who insisted on my phone number. I was leary and gave him my work number. He called and wanted to take me to dinner on Valentines’ Day to a very nice place. To be safe, I met him there. I ordered a glass of wine and he told me he was an alcoholic. I asked if I should change my order; he said no. Then he handed me a wrapped box in which I found a very skimpy, lacy, red and white teddy! I made it through the dinner and was invited back to his place for oreos. I politely declined!
                                                      Thank you,

There were gifts (like a heart mug, a little red teddy, candy, etc.) stuffed into different containers and attached to the board, and the whole thing lit up with a battery pack on the back side of the board providing the power. It was ingenious and very, very sweet.

Two of my daughters are now grown-up, and every year, they give ME Valentine’s gifts as well :)

I just subscribed to the newsletter.

The best V-day gift I ever got was a card made for me by my five year old daughter. She spent a lot of time decorating it, and even found old cards to copy the bigger words from. And then she went on to spend the entire day helping me with chores.

I’d love for her to read the books in that box set someday.
